Lots of admins seem to do a lot of unlocking of users, using unlock is so much faster than the GUI that it shouldnt even be a competition in your head which one to use. Plug your unit into the USB port on your computer. A file will pop up that says “Garmin”. On the next list of files that come up, click on “Garmin”. In the next list of files that come3 up, click on “Garmin Device”. It is a small text file. About 12 lines down in the text file will be a line that says, “UNLOCK. Download your unlock file(s) Open Garmin MapManager; Click on File; Choose on Import Unlock Code. Choose an unlock file from your Downloads folder; Click on Install; If you downloaded more than one unlock code, repeat steps 3 through 6 above for each unlock file; Close and reopen Garmin BaseCamp; Your product is now unlocked. Download your unlock file(s) Open Garmin MapManager; Click on File; Choose on Import Unlock Code.; Choose an unlock file from your Downloads folder; Click on Install; If you downloaded more than one unlock code, repeat steps 3 through 6 above for each unlock file.
